How it works

Wait, what on earth is a metabolic health coach?

Fair question. Why "metabolic health coach" and not just "health coach"? Because the whole thing turns on one idea nearly every diet completely misses: which fuel your body runs on.

Right now, like most people, you mainly run on sugar. My job is to teach you, step by step, how to switch your main fuel over to fat. That one change changes how your whole body works: your energy, your cravings, your hunger, even your head. I genuinely believe running on fat is your natural state, the one modern food has pulled us away from.

Here's the simple version. To begin, we take the sugars out, so your body has no choice but to burn its own fat. That's where the results come from. And no, it's not forever. Once you hit your goal, I teach you how to maintain, and how to bring foods back sensibly.

Honestly? I'm having a burger tonight, brioche bun and all. But I've trained today and had almost no carbs, so I know that one meal is completely fine for me. That's not falling off the wagon. That's understanding your body well enough to make the call. That freedom is the point.

And the pace is yours. Want fast? Add a bit of cardio, walking, running, rowing, and speed it up. Prefer slow and steady? Just cut the sugar and let it happen gently. Either way you get there, and then you learn to keep it. Which, funnily enough, is exactly what I teach people coming off the jabs too.

My story

I was always the overweight one.

I spent most of my life carrying extra weight. I smashed the gym and it barely moved. Low fat, calorie counting, shakes. I'd lose a bit and gain it all back, again and again.

Then in 2016 my wife Jeannette died of cancer at 42. Overnight I became a widower and a single dad to four daughters. That changed everything. I didn't want my girls to lose me too.

So I got serious. Not about punishing myself, but about understanding how the body actually works. At 45 I discovered low-carb eating and went down the rabbit hole: courses, research, two keto coaching qualifications, and years of paying attention to my own body. The weight came off. The energy came back. The cravings disappeared.

I'm in my 50s now and in better shape than I was in my 30s. Not because I'm special, but because I finally understood the one thing every diet I'd tried had missed: insulin. When insulin is high, your body can't burn fat, no matter how little you eat or how hard you train. Lower the insulin and the switch flips. Your body does what it was designed to do.
